Equipment maintenance
A sharp lawn mower blade is a crucial part of having a healthy lawn. When your blade is dull, it tears grass rather than cutting it, making the whole lawn look brown or dull and leaves your grass vulnerable to diseases. Dull blades also make the engine work harder than it really should. How often your lawn mower blade needs sharpening depends on the size of your lawn and the type of grass. In the summer months if there is a drought the blades should be set higher to keep some moisture in the blades of grass to keep it green for longer.
Cylinder mowers The blades should be sharpened annually. The best time being in November or December, when you get your mower sharpened/serviced at the time you don't need it and you receive a 15 % Discount. Rotary mowers Sharpen blades as needed. During the active-growing period, you may have to sharpen the blade every 3-4 months, Ideally early spring, mid-summer & in the winter along with an annual oil change and cleaning or change of the air filter.
